- Fiction is literature in the form of prose that describes imaginary events and characters. Its genres range from mystery and horror to fantasy and science fiction, but common factors that make any genre of fiction truly stand out are: a poignant message, layered characters, and an interesting plot.

- Keep your audience in mind--the primary audience of Little Magnolia is faculty, peers, and parents, so don't submit anything too graphic.
- If you wish, your name can remain anonymous or your work can appear underneath a pseudonym.
Tips:
- Focus on your voice and writing style, as those signify advanced writing.
- If you're submitting a section of a larger piece, make sure the reader doesn't need too much background information to explain the context.
- Check for grammatical and spelling errors before submitting, which will help not distract from the main themes of your writing.
